But there are many proven ways to curb mosquito expansion. Mosquitoes can never be totally eliminated. Besides blood loss they are also capable of transmitting many diseases like malaria, dengue, filariasis, Japanese encephalities, Chikungunia, Yellow fever (not in India sofar) and Zika fever.

The female is the biter, needing a periodic blood meal to produce eggs. Fortunately, humans are not the meal of choice. Mosquitoes prefer horses, cattle, deer, small mammals, and birds- even some reptiles-over man. Unfortunately, they’ll feed on humans when nothing else is available, and can make outdoor living miserable. But they need blood protein to produce eggs, and, in a pinch, they’ll snack on a person.
